WORK AREA
CAUTION used without the safety alert symbol
indicates a potentially hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, may result in property damage.
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered work benches and dark work
areas may cause accidents or injury.
NOTE provides additional information that is useful
for proper use and maintenance of this tool. If a
NOTE is indicated make sure it is fully understood.
Do not operate power tools in explosive areas, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite
the dust or fumes.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Keep bystanders, children and visitors away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
People with electronic devices, such as pacemakers, should consult their
physician(s) before using this product. Operation of electrical equipment in
close proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure of
the pacemaker.
Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is
wider than the other.) This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the
plug in any way. Double insulation eliminates the need for the three wire
grounded power cord and grounded power supply system.
WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and
other construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California
to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Some examples of these chemicals are:
• Lead from lead-based paints.
• Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products,
and arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
grounded.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type
of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated
area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as dust masks that are
specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power
tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the tool or pull the plug
from an outlet. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving
parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk
of electric shock.
WARNING: Handling the power cord on corded products may expose you to
lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth
defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
When operating the tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked “W-
A” or “W.”These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of elec-
tric shock.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

PERSONAL SAFETY
Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained
tools with a sharp cutting edge are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operat-
ing a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools
may result in serious personal injury.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any
other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the tool
serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your
model. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may create a risk of injury
when used on another tool.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair.
Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes,
jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
Avoid accidental starting. Be sure the switch is off before plugging in.
Carrying tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in tools that have the
switch on invites accidents.
SERVICE
Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or
maintenance by unqualified personnel may result in a risk of injury.
Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the power tool “ON”.
A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may
result in personal injury.
When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions
in the Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to
follow Maintenance Instructions may create a risk of shock or injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper foot-
ing and balance enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situa-
tions.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES AND/OR SYMBOLS
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid safe-
ty shoes, hard hat or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.
Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when perform-
ing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring. Contact
with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock
the operator.
TOOL USE AND CARE
SAFETY RULES FOR ANGLE GRINDERS
Use clamps or other practical ways to secure and support the workpiece to a
stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable and
may lead to loss of control.
Never use this tool without the proper guard. The grinding wheel could shat-
ter during use. Make sure the guard covers the side of the wheel facing you.
Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool
will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.
Never bounce the tool while grinding. This may crack the wheel.
Do not use the tool if the power switch does not turn it “ON” or “OFF”. A tool that
cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Grinding metal will cause sparks! Keep them directed away from people and
flammable materials. Always keep the guard positioned so that as much of
the exposed disc as possible is pointing away from you.
Disconnect the power cord plug from the power source before making any
adjustments, changing accessories or storing the tool. Such preventive safe-
ty measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.
Keep children and pregnant women away from the work area until the grind-
ing is completed and the area has been cleaned up.
Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons. Tools
are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Always wear full eye, face and body protection. Wire bristles may break off and fly
toward the user. Always wear ear protection when grinding in enclosed spaces. Noise
level may be amplified in such locations and may cause permanent hearing loss.
5

Unplug Angle Grinder from power supply and place the switch in the locked
or “OFF” position before making any assembly adjustments, changing
accessories or performing any inspection, maintenance or cleaning proce-
dures. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool acci-
dentally which could cause serious personal injury.
Only use grinding and cutting wheels that are approved for a maximum
speed of 13,000 rpm or greater.
After replacing a wheel or brush, always let the tool run for one minute in a
well-protected area. If the new accessory has an undetected flaw, it should
break apart in less than a minute.
Do not use the Angle Grinder if it has been damaged, left outdoors in the
rain, snow, wet or damp environments, or immersed in liquid.
Always wear an OSHA approved dusk mask or respirator when inside the
work area. Replace the filter daily. NOTE: Not all dust masks offer protection
from lead paint dust. Be sure to use the proper mask for the job.
Before connecting the tool to the power supply follow the safety instructions
for installing the grinding or cutting wheels. Do not lock the wheels too tight
or cracks may occur.
Only use grinding or cutting wheels with the correct bore size for the spindle
of the grinder.
Use standard parts. Do not use coolant or water and do not use as a fixed grinder.
Do not start the tool when the grinding or cutting wheels are touching the work area.
Keep the power cord well away from the cutting area during use. Always position
the cord so that it will not be caught in the workpiece when the grinder is in use.
Maintain labels and nameplates on the Angle Grinder. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Alltrade for a replacement.
Always have the guards in place and properly positioned when using grind-
ing wheels or wire cup brushes.
SYMBOLS
Secure the material being grinded. Never hold it in your hand or across your
legs. Do not use your legs or feet to stabilize the workpiece. Unstable support
can cause loss of control and could result in lacerations or injury.
IMPORTANT: Some of the following symbols may be used on your tool. Please
study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpretation of these symbols will
allow you to operate the tool better and safer.
Always make sure no one, including the user, is in line with the tool when
starting the motor.

WARNING
WARNING
Always check the tool warning label for the recommend-
ed speed rating on accessories. Never run a wheel or brush over the rated
speed. Accessories exceeding the recommended speed may fly apart and cause
serious personal injury.
Do not use edge grinding wheels for cut-off work, deep
grinding or subject them to any side pressure as this may lead to breakage
and possible personal injury. These wheels should be used for shallow cutting
and notching (less than 1/2" in depth). Keep the open side of the guard away
from the operator at all times.
Hubbed wheels do not require mounting flanges.
Edge grinding should only be done with wheels specifically designed for this purpose.

ting wheel has a clean cutting edge.
Always allow the Angle Grinder to come up to full speed before touching any
surface.
• To cut hard stone a diamond cutting wheel is recommended.
• Do nut use cutting wheel for rough grinding.
Always take the tool away from the workpiece before turning the tool “OFF”.
Let the tool come to a complete stop before setting it down.
This tool operates best under light pressure. Exerting heavy pressure will not
speed up the work and may cause damage to the motor.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Always UNPLUG the tool from the power source before
cleaning or maintenance.

ACCESSORIES
USING THE ANGLE GRINDER:
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model.
Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous when used on
another tool.
For best tool control, material removal and minimal
loading, keep the angle between the disc and the work surface at approxi-
mately 30° when grinding and 10°-15° when sanding.
Always attach grounded (3-prong) extension cords to grounded (3-hole) outlets.
If you must use an extension cord, be sure that the gauge is large enough to carry
the amount of current necessary for your power tool. If not, your tool may experi-
ence a loss of power, excessive voltage drop or overheating. The smaller the gauge
number, the heavier the cord (see table on next page).
• Do not cover exhaust vents when the Angle Grinder is in use. This may cause
damage to the motor and reduce efficiency.
