GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
For all cord connected appliances:
The microwave oven must be grounded. In the event of
an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of
electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric
current. The microwave oven is equipped with a cord
having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug
must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed
and grounded.
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Do not remove ground prong.
Do not use an adapter.
WARNING: Improper use of the grounding plug can
result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified
electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are
not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether
the microwave oven is properly grounded.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death,
fire, or electrical shock.
Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is
too short, have a qualified electrician or serviceman install
an outlet near the microwave oven.
Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Features
Turntable
Convection Element and Fan (on some models)
Turntable may be turned off (on some models) for manual cooking
only. This is helpful when cooking with plates that are bigger than
the turntable, or when cooking with plates that are side by side.
Turntable cannot be turned off during preset or sensor (on some
models) functions.
The convection element and fan are embedded in the wall of the
microwave oven cavity, behind the metal screen.
Progress Bar
The progress bar is a visual picture of the estimated running time of
sensor functions. It appears under “Sensing” in the display.
Cooking Rack (on some models)
Interactive Touch Display
Use only for 2-level cooking. To avoid damage to the microwave
oven, always remove rack after 2-level cooking. To avoid damage
to the microwave oven due to soil buildup, clean rack supports
often.
The LCD interactive touch display is designed to be easily
navigable, guiding you through the menus, offering multiple
selections, accepting your input and executing your commands.
It also shows instructions, tips and graphics.
TRUCAPTURE® Ventilation System (on some models)
Grill Element (on some models)
The grill element has a 1,000-watt halogen bulb and a 500-watt
quartz bulb. The halogen bulb glows very brightly, but the quartz
bulb has a very faint glow that might not be visible.
The vent fan comes on automatically during convection and grill
cooking (on some moodels), and it also comes on if the cooktop
below gets too hot.

Microwave Oven Use
Sensor Cooking
Popcorn
A sensor in the microwave oven detects moisture released from
food as it heats, and adjusts the cooking time accordingly.
Popcorn is a sensor function. The sensor determines appropriate
cooking times for commercially packaged popcorn.
Make sure microwave oven has been plugged in for at least
2 minutes. Use microwave-safe dish with loose-fitting lid, or cover
microwave-safe dish with plastic wrap and vent. For optimal
performance, wait at least 30 minutes after convection cooking or
grilling (on some models) before sensor cooking.
Keep Warm
WARNING
Food Poisoning Hazard
Stage Cooking
Do not let food sit in oven more than one hour before
or after cooking.
If programming stage cooking, follow the screen prompts on the
display to add additional stages, and set time, power and/or
temperature (on some models) for each stage. Up to 4 stages may
be programmed.
Doing so can result in food poisoning or sickness.
Doneness
Hot cooked food can be kept warm in the microwave oven. The
Keep Warm function uses 10% cook power. Keep Warm can be
used by itself or can be prorammed to follow a cooking cycle.
Opening the door during Keep Warm will cancel the function.
Add or subtract time from most automatic cook functions by
touching “Doneness” on the touch screen during programing, and
following the prompts. Doneness is remembered for specific
programs. Some meat, poultry and/or fish functions may not give
you the option to lessen doneness.
For list or description of various programs, see the Quick Reference Guide provided with your microwave oven.
Microwave Oven Care
Stainless steel (on some models): mild soap and water, then
rinse with clean water and dry with soft cloth, or use stainless
steel cleaner.
General Cleaning
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and
the microwave oven is cool. Always follow label instructions on
cleaning products.
Turntable: mild soap and water or dishwasher.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven caused by arcing due to
soil buildup, keep cavity, microwave inlet cover, cooking rack
supports, and area where the door touches the frame clean.
Pan: mild soap, water and washcloth or dishwasher.
Rack(s): mild soap, water and washcloth. Dishwasher cleaning
is not recommended.
Clean with mild soap, water and a soft cloth or sponge, or as
indicated below.
Steamer vessel: mild soap, water and soft brush or dishwasher.
Replacing Filters and Light Bulbs
Cavity: To avoid damage to the gray cavity lining, do not use
metal or sharp utensils or scraper, soap-filled scouring pad,
abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or some
recycled paper towels.
Grease filters: Remove grease filters from underside of
microwave oven, and clean monthly.
Charcoal filter(s): Depending on the model, there may be
2 charcoal filters – 1 behind each of the grease filters – on the
underside of the microwave oven, or one charcoal odor filter
under the vent screen on the top of the microwave oven. The
charcoal filter(s) cannot be cleaned, and should be replaced
about every 6 months.
Grease filters: mild soap and water or dishwasher.
Door and exterior: mild soap and water, or glass cleaner
applied to paper towel.
Control panel/interactive touch display: mild soap, water and
washcloth, or glass cleaner applied to soft cloth (not directly to
panel). Activate child lock to avoid control panel activation
during cleaning. Use gentle pressure when wiping the touch
screen.
Cooktop lights: The cooktop lights are located on the
underside of the microwave oven, and are replaceable.
Cavity light: The cavity light bulb is located under the vent
screen on the top of the microwave oven, under the bulb cover,
and is replaceable.

Troubleshooting
First try the solutions suggested here or visit our website and reference FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
to possibly avoid the cost of a service call.
Microwave oven will not operate
Check the following:
Quartz bulb does not appear to be on
This is not unusual. See “Grill Element” in the “Features”
section.
Household fuse or circuit breaker
Is the element still working properly?
If a household fuse has blown or a circuit breaker has tripped,
replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem
continues, call an electrician.
Place 2 slices of bread on the tall grill rack, place the rack on
the turntable and close the door. Program the microwave oven
using manual grill – without microwaves – for 4 minutes. The
bread should toast dark brown. If it does not toast, call for
service.
Magnetron
Try to heat 1 cup (250 mL) of cold water for 2 minutes at 100%
cooking power. If water does not heat, try the steps below. If
microwave oven still does not operate, call for service.
Radio, TV or cordless phone interference
Check the following:
Door
Firmly close door. On some models, if a packaging spacer is
attached to inside of the door, remove it, then firmly close door.
If a message about the door appears in the display, the door
has been closed for 5 minutes or more without the microwave
oven being started. This happens to avoid unintended starting
of the microwave oven. Open and close the door, then start
the cycle.
Proximity
Move the receiver away from the microwave oven, or adjust the
radio or TV antenna.
Soil
Make sure the microwave oven door and sealing surfaces are
clean.
Control
Frequency
Make sure control is set properly. Make sure Control Lock is off.
Make sure Demo Mode (on some models) is off.
Some 2.4 GHz-based cordless phones and home wireless
networks may experience static or noise while microwave
oven is on. Use a corded phone, a different frequency
cordless phone or avoid using these items during microwave
oven operation.
Arcing in the microwave oven
Check the following:
Soil buildup
Fan running during cooktop usage
Soil buildup on cavity walls, microwave inlet cover, cooking
rack supports, and area where the door touches the frame can
cause arcing. See “General Cleaning” in “Microwave Oven
Care” section.
This is normal. The microwave oven’s cooling fan (on some
models), which is separate from the vent fan, automatically
comes on during microwave oven operation to cool the
microwave oven. It may also automatically come on and cycle
on and off to cool the microwave oven’s controls while the
cooktop below is being used.
Turntable alternates rotation directions
This is normal and depends on motor rotation at the beginning
of the cycle.
Fan running after cooking is finished
This is normal for convection and grill use. The fan may run for
up to 10 minutes to cool the microwave oven.
Odor and smoke coming from microwave oven during
convection cooking
This is normal for the first few convection cycles. The odor will
dissipate with repeated use.
