Brewing Coffee
1. Open the swing out basket to your right. Insert a Mr. Coffee brand paper
filter into the basket.
2. Add desired amount of coffee and shake slightly to level coffee.
See SUGGESTED COFFEE MEASUREMENT CHART found above.
3. Be sure the paper filter is properly centered before closing the swing out
basket.
Fill the decanter with tap water to desired capacity as marked on the
side of the decanter. (1 cup equals 5 ounces.) To brew 2 cups of coffee,
fill the decanter to the middle of the silver band. For the AD1 0, do not fill
above the 1 O-cup line or the coffeemaker will overflow.
4.
For easy and accurate filling, a water window is located on the left side
of the coffeemaker.
Pour water into the water reservoir. Place the empty decanter onto the
warmer plate.
5.
6.
Turn your coffeemaker switch ON. When coffee stops flowing, the brew
ing cycle is complete.
7. Remove the paper filter, then discard the used grounds and filter.
The Filter Basket can be removed by swinging it open to the right, lifting the
basket up and .pulling the bottom of the basket out. Rinse the basket and
replace by inserting the top post of the basket into the machine first.
Automatic Pause ‘N Serve Drip Stop Valve
For your convenience, our Pause ‘N Serve feature allows you up to
to sneak a cup while the coffee is still brewing. It also prevents any
remaining coffee in the filter basket from dripping onto the warmer plate once
the brew cycle is completed.
TO PREVENT INJURY FROM HOT OVERFLOW, REPLACE
DECANTER WITHIN 30 SECONDS, IF REMOVED DURING
BREWING.
Cleaning Instructions
Your coffeemaker
be cleaned when you begin to notice excessive
steaming or the brewing time increases considerably. This condition is
caused by a buildup of lime and mineral deposits from your water. If the
pumping action stops before all the water has been pumped out of the
machine, then the appliance requires cleaning.
The frequency of cleaning depends on the hardness of water used. The fol-
lowing table gives the suggested cleaning intervals.
SUGGESTED CLEANING INTERVAL
Type of Water
Cleaning Frequency
every 80 brew cycles
every 40 brew cycles
Soft Water
Hard Water
Your coffeemaker may be cleaned by using MR. COFFEE CLEANER or
vinegar. For best results, use MR. COFFEE CLEANER. It is superior to vine-
gar and has no unpleasant odor.
Using Mr. Coffee Cleaner
(Read caution statement on side panel of Mr. Coffee Cleaner box before
use)
1. Fill the decanter with 4-5 decanter cups of warm water.
2. Empty contents of one packet of MR. COFFEE CLEANER into the
decanter and stir with a plastic or wooden spoon until the cleaner is com-
pletely dissolved.
3. Pour the blue solution into the coffeemaker.
4. Place the empty decanter on the warmer plate. The filter basket should
be closed.
5. Turn your coffeemaker on.
6. When the blue solution has stopped flowing, turn your coffeemaker off.
7. Discard the blue solution and thoroughly rinse the decanter and lid.
8. Repeat steps #l #7 with clean water only (no blue solution).
-
Continue to rinse out the unit until you see no remaining traces of
the blue solution.
9. If a normal brewing flow rate is not achieved, repeat the cleaning steps
#l
-
#8.
USING VINEGAR:
1. Pour 1 quart of undiluted white household vinegar into your coffee-
maker
2. Place a filter into the filter basket and close the swing out basket.
3. Place the empty decanter on the warmer plate and turn the coffee-
maker on. When three cups have flowed through, turn the coffee-
maker off and let stand for l/2 hour.
4. Turn the coffeemaker on and let all of the vinegar flow through.
5. Discard the vinegar and the paper filter.
6. To flush out all traces of vinegar, pour a decanter full of tap water
into the coffeemaker, turn it on, and allow it all to cycle through.
7. Discard the water and turn the coffeemaker off. Repeat steps #6 and
#7.
Decanter Cleaning
Hard water can leave a whitish mineral deposit inside the decanter. Coffee
and tea discolor these deposits, sometimes leaving a brownish stain inside
the decanter. To remove these stains, follow these simple steps:
1. Use a hot white vinegar solution and let it soak.
2. Let it stand for about 20 minutes and then discard.
3. Wash and rinse the decanter thoroughly using a soft cloth. Do not use
harsh abrasive cleaners. These will cause scratches which can lead
to breakage.
