Pressure Relief Procedure
WARNING
Do not exceed the Maximum Incoming Air Pressure
of the equipment. Over pressurizing can cause com-
ponent rupture and serious injury.
WARNING
To avoid injury, relieve air and fluid pressure before
checking, cleaning, or repairing the equipment.
Auto Drain
The following is a basic pressure relief procedure. Be
sure to follow the specific pressure relief procedure in
your spray gun and/or fluid supply equipment manuals.
When the bowl is pressurized, the piston travels down
against the spring and closes the drain opening. When
the bowl is depressurized (i.e., overnight when system is
shut down), the spring lifts the piston from the seal,
allowing the bowl to drain.
1. Close the main air shut-off valve.
2. Trigger the gun or dispense valve and open any
drain valves to relieve pressure.
You can push the piston stem on the bottom of the
bowl to manually drain it.
Coalescer Pressure Drop
Indicator
The differential pressure drop indicator provides early
detection of a clogged coalescing filter element. As the
filter element becomes clogged, the red indicator starts
to rise while air is flowing through the unit. When the
pressure drop across the element reaches 10-12 psi
(69-83 kPa, 0.7-0.8 bar), the red indicator will be in full
view, and the element should be replaced. Failure to
replace the element when the pressure drop exceeds 10
psi (69 kPa, 0.7 bar) will affect your air quality and tool
efficiency.

Maintenance
Maintenance
Coalescers with Auto Drain
•
Relieve the pressure before cleaning, checking
or repairing equipment. Follow Pressure
It is recommended that Air Filter 234402 be
installed upstream of the coalescing filter to
remove 5 micron and larger size particles and sep-
arate large droplets of moisture from the air line.
•
•
Check system at least once per shift to ensure
proper drainage.
To maintain maximum filtering efficiency and
avoid excessive pressure drop, filters must be
kept clean.
CAUTION
Never let the liquid level in the bowl reach the base of
the coalescing element.
Air Filters with Auto Drain
Cleaning
You do not need to remove the complete coalescer from
the line to clean it.
Cleaning
You do not need to remove the complete filter from the
line to clean it.
sure to shut off the air supply and depressurize the
filter.
2. Clean all parts with cleaning solvent and blow out
coalescer body.
2. Clean all parts with cleaning solvent and blow out fil-
ter body.
3. Replace coalescer element.
3. Wash filter element in cleaning solvent. Blow the fil-
ter out from the inside.
